Using data from 303 supervisor-subordinate dyads collected in Taiwan, we found that leader-follower mastery goals congruence and follower’s perception of transformational leadership and employee organizational citizenship behavior are positively related. But leader-follower performance goals congruence is negatively related to employee organizational citizenship behavior yet remains non-significant to transformational leadership. Moreover, transformational leadership fully mediates the relationship of leader-follower mastery goals congruence with organizational citizenship behavior. The results also demonstrate that the positive relationship between leader-follower mastery goals congruence is stronger when task routineness is at high level than it is at low level.
