Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮教育大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 97 === This study investigated how to use computer assisted reading software to improve the reading performance of a primary school student with learning disability. Using case study paradigm, the current study collected data through standardized test, assessment file provided by speech-language pathologist, observation of classroom performance, and interview with teachers, parents, and family members. Based on the collection of participant’s data, it showed that this student had severe dyslexic problem. Accordingly, the computer assisted reading software was used to remediate this student’s reading difficulties, because this software provided a synchronized visual and auditory presentation of text. After the implementation of this assistive technology for 6 weeks, the student’s reading performance, and his attitude questionnaire toward self learning were obtained for evaluation of the benefits of assistive reading technology. Overall, it was found that the used of text-to-speech as a remediated tool was helpful in improving LD student’s reading fluency and reading comprehension. In addition, the results also indicated that computer assisted reading software could increase the student’s self learning and confidence.
