The results of this study may provide reference for the operation of extended school year in the future. The research instrument was the self-designed questionnaire “The Questionnaire of Junior High School Students’ Status Quo and Needs of Extended school year”, which contains five dimensions as follows: “school program”, “private institution program”, “support services” , “parental education”, and “home studying”. The questionnaire data were analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, and one-way ANOVA . The recovery rate was 89%, and the valid rate was 88%. The major findings were as the following: 1. Status quo: (1) The extended school year which care givers receive the most was “home studying” which was followed by “parental education”, “support services”, ” school program”, “private institution program” according to availability. (2) The extended school year availability varied with different family ranking, care givers’ages, education level and residential areas. The other family ranking received more than the one-parent family, nuclear family and extended family in private institution program and support services, but get fewer than the one-parent family, nuclear family and extended family in home studying. The care givers’ age “30-39” and “40-49” received more than “under 30” in home studying. Care givers whose education level were “junior high school” received more than “college” in school program. In private institution program, the education level “college” got more than “junior high school” and “high school”, then “college” got more than “elementary school” in home studying. Care givers who lived in Kaohsiung City received more than those who lived in Kaohsiung County in private institution program, and care givers who lived in Kaohsiung City and Kaohsiung County got more than lived in Pingtung County in home studying. 2. Need levels: (1) The most needed support was “support services”, which was followed by “school program”, “parental education”, “home studying” and “private institution program” according to the students’ needs. (2) The need levels varied with different disability levels. Children with severe disabilities needed more than those with moderate and extreme disabilities in support services and home studying. 3. The open questions: The most status quo in summer vacation for the students with intellectual disabilities was “stay at home”. What the care givers cared about in open questions were the needs of: school summer programs, traffic support, grants, respite care, summer homework and private institution programs and so on. 周台傑 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 131 zh-TW
