Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 博物館學研究所碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study is to explore the learning interaction of children participating in hands-on educational activities. After literature reviews, a fossil digging activity was chosen to be the case study, the field site at National Taiwan Museum, and children visitors as the main research participants. Based on field observation, a detailed record of the children’s individual participation and interaction between their peers were documented. The children’s own personal accounts were recorded as well after interacting with the activity. 20 participants were collected using purposive sampling, after the analysis of the data and literature reviews, the conclusion is as follows: As the children participate with hands-on activities, adults help children by providing them with a variety of learning methods. In the learning process, adults often give children learning cues and guidance with questions. This encourages the children to interact with their peers as well as individually exploring their environment. When the children participate in the activities of the museum, the children gain knowledge and learn in a relaxed and unstressed atmosphere. As the children participate in hands-on educational activities, the children will interact with their peers, gaining knowledge as they share their experience and exchange with others. Children like the diversity of educational and hands-on activities provided by the museum. In the future, hands-on educational activities can be considered a priority, when designing educational activities for young children visitors. Based on this study and suggestions on future designs of educational activities in museums, this will lead to increased participation of children visitors and meet their needs.
