Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 101 === The purposes of this study was to examine the ability of phonological awareness, visual perception, phonetic symbol decoding of the kindergarten children, and to find out their effect of discriminating the performance of Chinese character recognition. There were 405 young children selected from the kindergartens in the municipal cities of Taichung. 81 children were selected as the group with low Chinese character recognition and 92 children were selected as the group with excellent Chinese character recognition. Independent T-test showed significant differences between low and high groups of Chinese character recognition in phonological awareness tests(detection of beginning sounds, detection of ending sounds, omitting the beginning sounds, omitting the ending sounds, substitutiy the ending sounds and tone awareness), visual perception tests(visual memory, visual discrimination), phonetic symbol decoding tests (vowels and consonants decoding, diphthongs decoding , reading phonetic symbols). Among the predictors, phonological awareness was the most significant variable in term of discriminanting chidren with high and low Chinese character recognition, followed by phonetics symbol decoding and visual perception in Chinese.
