The contents of the cases includes“the area conservation”, “the surface relative size”, “The formula for area of a rectangular ” and “The formula for area of a trapezoid”. The researcher used these four cases to improve teachers’ specialized content knowledge of area、 knowledge of content and students for area, and knowledge of content and teaching for area. The research found that the investigation of mathematics teaching cases enhanced the professional knowledge of teachers’area teaching . (1) Specialized content knowledge: Teachers clarified mathematic concepts and established relevant mathematical languages; they could describe the reason for teaching arrangements clearly;and they controled the context of teaching better .(2) Knowledge of content and students: Teachers are more aware of students' misconceptions and diverse strategies by cases reading and discussing. (3) Knowledge of content and teaching: Teachers could arrange teaching more completely and accurately.And they learned diverse and effective teaching strategies.
