The participants were divided into two groups, and each group included three classes. The teaching group was taught for ten minutes after the class bell ring by their chinese teacher five times a week, and used the self-edited handouts to be materials called < Classical Reading >. Furthermore, the students were leaded by mutiple teaching strategies, including the following reading by teachers、listening and reading by CD and reading aloud by students themslves. After class, the students were asked to memory the contents, so they were given the extra scores or the points in their daily honer card. The teachers also added competitive games in class to promote the interesting of learning. Besides, the control group kept the normal teaching. The total teaching time was ten weeks, and took the pre-scores as covariance, the post-scores as depended factor to test the teaching effects in two groups.The results showed that classical reading teaching indeed can promote the comprehension ability of vacabuary, sentence, paragraph, and context, especially in classical chinses. Thus, the classical reading teaching was an effective strategy to increase the reading comprehension ability in seventh grade students.
