A case study design was used in this study. Analyses of reading motivation and reading comprehension performances were conducted to understand the effects of the teaching experiment. Overall, the results found in this study were as follows: 1. Introduction of Sustained Silent Reading combined with reading comprehension teaching can upgrade the reading motivation of the sixth grader with low reading ability. 2. The introduction of Sustained Silent Reading combined with reading comprehension teaching can upgrade the reading capability of the sixth grader with low reading ability. Finally, some suggestions based on the findings of this study were provided for further teaching and study.
