According to previous research, this kind of behavior may contain abundant communicating functions. However, we find that research about this topic is quite rare in the past 30 years. Therefore, in this research, we conduct a functional analysis of repetitive questioning in a child with autism, and try to develop interventions based on the results of functional analysis for this child. The participant is a 9-year-old boy diagnosed with severe autism. The two purposes of this research are (1) to figure out the functions of repetitive questioning in this autistic child, and (2) to develop some interventions based on the result of FA, in order to reduce the repetitive questioning and to build up proper communication behaviors as alternate appropriate behaviors. The results show that (1) we may figure out the major function of repetitive questioning, that is “asking for complete information” in this case, through FA. (2) The interventions, developed based on FA, may reduce repetitive questioning and have social validity. (3) This child can properly use the substitutive sentences with a few prompts, but seldom use them spontaneously. Tsou, Chi-Zong 鄒啟蓉 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 233 zh-TW
