Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 兒童英語教育學系碩士班 === 103 === The ten-week study aimed to examine the effects of integrating English learning website into phonics teaching on second graders’ English vocabulary learning and vocabulary retention. Forty-six 2nd graders from two classes participated in this study, one serving as the experimental group received phonics via English learning website, while the other serving as the control group did not. The research data were collected through vocabulary ability pre- and posttests and delayed test and a questionnaire of phonics via English learning website. These data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test and paired sample t-test. The study results revealed that the experimental group and the control group both significantly improved their vocabulary abilities respectively, except the discrimination of final consonant sound. However, the difference between the two groups’ performance in vocabulary ability immediate posttest did not reach significant difference. Furthermore, both groups’ performance in vocabulary ability delayed test did not reach significant difference, which suggested that two groups’ English vocabulary abilities were retained. Moreover, the experimental group expressed very positive feedback and high evaluation on integrating English learning website into phonics learning. Finally, based on the research results, some suggestions were offered for English teaching and further studies. Key word: English learning website, phonics, vocabulary ability, vocabulary retention
