The technology enables smartphones, tablets and other devices to perform actions when they are in close proximity to an iBeacon device. It also makes micro-positioning features possible. This study combines Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Innovation Diffusion Theory into a theoretical model to investigate consumer willingness in adopting iBeacon technology. Empircal data and statistical tests show that perceived playfulness,perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use significantly and positively impact the attitude of adopting the technology. Attitude of adoption impacts intentions of adoption significantly and positively. Factors from innovative diffusion theory including,compatibility,visibility and image significantly and positively impact intentions of adopt on.
