A Case Study of Influence of iPod Teaching Strategy on Science Learning of the Disadvantaged Students

博士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 自然科學教育學系 === 104 === The study aimed to explore the following three issues: (1) the effect of iPod teaching strategy on scientific argumentation skills of the disadvantaged students, (2) the effect of iPod teaching strategy on scientific inquiry skills of the disadvantaged students, and (3) the disadvantaged students’ attitude toward science through iPod teaching strategy. This was a case study. The setting was in an elementary school in Xin Zhuang District in New Taipei City and the participants were twelve sixth graders at disadvantaged. The curriculum was designed based on the iPod teaching strategy regarding the global warming. The qualitative data were observation field notes, interviews, and document analysis with three tools “Scientific Argumentation Skills Scale, Coding Table of Scientific Inquiry Skills, and Learning Scale of the Attitude toward Science.” Based on the data analysis, this study has the following findings and implications. 1. The disadvantaged students demonstrated significant improvement in scientific argumentation skills and cultivated positive scientific argumentation skills after receiving the iPod teaching curriculum. 2. The disadvantaged students demonstrated significant improvement in scientific inquiry skills and develop multiple scientific inquiry skills after receiving the iPod teaching curriculum. 3. The disadvantaged students demonstrated significant improvement in “Learning Scale of the Attitude toward Science” after receiving the iPod teaching curriculum.
