Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育學系研究所 === 105 === Abstract   The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of reciprcal teaching in promoting fifth and sixth grade elementary students' English learning performance.The teacher lead the children learn to use four reading strategies﹕ “predicting” , “questioning” , “clarifying” and “summarizing”. After the teacher's demonstration, did it on their own gradually, and the teacher shifted from the leading role gradually. By studying and analyzing the information collected. After eight weeks of experiments,the main results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. The reciprocal teaching helped the participants build up knowledge and use th instructed strategies. 2. The participants' attitudes toward and responses to the reciprocal teaching may be described as being supportive and postive. 3. The participants preferred the way in group discusssing. 4. The participants' learning attitudes were significantly promoted. 5. The participants' reading comprehension strategies improved after the implementation of reciprocal teaching. 6. The reciprocal teaching has no significant effect on primary school students' English learning achievement According to the results mentioned above, some suggestion for future studies and learning instructions were provided.
