A learning and teaching method as the core value of the experiment. The purpose of the research was to explore whether collaborative learning was able to promote students’ learning achievement and motivation. The participants of the study were 49 junior high school students in Yilan. The instruments used in this research included Hualien Education Long-term Database-Basic Competence Test of 2014 as the pretest. Participants’ first- and second-term exams as the posttests, and two sets of questionnaires, covering student’s learning motivation and qualitative reflection. Quasi-experimental design was adopted in this study. The collected data was analyzed mainly through t-test and ANOVA. The results showed that after carrying out collaborative-learning teaching method, participants’ learning achievement and motivation both presented significant differences, which showed collaborative learning worked effectively.
