The curriculum is designed to gauge the students’ understanding of gender stereotypes and address any biases found. The effectiveness of this study was measured through student feedback and assessments as well as the teacher’s observation journal and teaching plans. Leading gender equality discussions with the children was also a strategy utilized to test their comprehension and determine whether or not their gender stereotypes and bias were being challenged and changed. This report would also be used as a resource for educators looking to pioneer gender equality programs of their own. The two overall learning objectives were for the first-grade students to be compassionate to themselves and respectful of others and their differences. A total of eight picture books and two fairy tales were carefully chosen and taught to the class once a week. After ten weeks, the highlights of the research were detailed. First, conducting this study led to insightful strategies on how to implement a gender equality education for first-grade students. Furthermore, teaching first- grade students through picture books and fairy tales resulted in better recognition and reduction of gender stereotypes. Lastly, this study provides evidence that picture books and fairy tales are applicable to instilling the importance of gender equality to first-grade students. The findings of this research provide recommendations for educators interested in furthering this topic. CHIU, LI-KANG 丘立崗 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 130 zh-TW
