The study was conducted with the aid of semi-structured interviews with eleven pupils, six girls and five boys. The study shows that the pupils have a great deal to say about reading aloud. They have a positive view of reading aloud and believe, among other things, that they learn new words, they learn the letters and the sounds of the letters during reading aloud, but what they single out most is the importance of being able to sit still and listen. Most pupils want books for reading aloud to be exciting, amusing, and related to their own interests. Moreover, they emphasize that reading aloud creates a sense of community and gives relaxation.
