The result shows that teachers find it difficult to point out what is most important for L2 pupils to encounter in their writing development and they consequently switch between several writing discourses. The teachers also adapt their teaching – to differing extents – in order to promote L2 pupils’ writing. A shared theme in all the teachers’ responses, however, was arousing and maintaining the pupils’ love and enjoyment of writing.
