Researchers have pointed out that school violence victimization and witness would cause both psychological and behavioral problems for students. However, to date, research on outcomes of school violence has been mainly discussing the direct impact of school violence on students’ well-being. Few empirical studies were conducted to explore students’ personal mechanisms that might regulate the impact of school violence victimization. The current study aimed to fill this research gap and to find out how the personal mechanism (i.e. self-concept) might mediate the impact of school violence victimization and witness on individual students’ psychological and behavioral well-being (i.e. depression and delinquency). === Method: === The survey design was employed in the current study. Using the Structural Equation Modeling method, two dimensions of self-concept, i.e. self-esteem and self-efficacy (intervening endogenous variables), were investigated as the personal mechanism that might mediate the relationship between school violence victimization/witness (exogenous variables) and students’ depression/delinquency (pure endogenous variables). The possible moderating effect of gender was also examined in the current study. === Result: === School violence victimization was elaborated into four different types and forms in the current study, i.e. 1) peer-victimization, 2) peer-witness, 3) teacher-victimization and 4) teacher-witness. School violence witness was found to be more prevalent === Discussion: === The current study focused on the school violence outcome mechanism. The human agency perspective and the positive orientation of social work were implied.
